Just as teachers and students create rules and/or expectations within the classroom, there must be rules put into place for how the technology should be correctly utilized and treated in class as well. There are so many pieces of technology devices in the room (computers, laptops, tablets, document camera, smartboard, accessories, etc.), it is important that students learn how to use these tools responsibly to ensure that each device remains working at its optimal level.
Establishing a set of technology rules for the classroom goes beyond how you care for and maintain the electronic devices. Teachers must take into consideration to set up rules and guidelines for how students should conduct themselves in order to stay safe while surfing the Internet. Students have to be mindful and take into consideration the things that they may say or post while using technology in the classroom is permanent and often difficult to change their mind after that ‘share’ button has been clicked. |
